Meet Charlie Toth. He’s studying history and politics at Lake Forest College and would like to work in government someday. He knows some things about dressing well, and how to step an outfit up to the next level, even just for a casual day at class.

“[Dressing better] is definitely a confidence booster. It’s something I can control and it’s a feeling that carries into the other parts of my day.” – Charlie

One of Charlie’s favorite parts of the cold weather is being able to layer up. He’s really pulling it off well here. As it gets into colder seasons, the layers keep him warm, but also give flexibility to be able to remove them as needed and still stay comfortable. The layers also provide more visual interest for his outfit.

“…button-downs and sweaters. No t-shirts and sweatpants!”

For students trying to dress better, Charlie recommends wearing more “button-downs and sweaters. No t-shirts and sweatpants!” I definitely agree, just some simple upgrades, like a t-shirt to a button-down shirt, or a hoodie to a classic sweater, can instantly improve your look.

As a student, professors take you more seriously when you take time to care about your appearance.

He makes great use of color in this outfit, using a seasonally appropriate color palette. The mustard trousers and Army green jacket look great for the Fall.
