Winslow Taylor is a graduating Senior at Lake Forest College. He studies French and Philosophy, while enjoying other interests such as film, sailing, cello, and tennis. Sorry ladies, he’s taken.
Winslow grew up in Louisiana where he wasn’t mindful about his personal style. It wasn’t until coming to Lake Forest Winslow learned how to dress better from style-conscious friends who helped guide him. Now, he dresses the part for the teaching career that he plans to pursue after graduate school.
“My friends always helped me out with things that looked good together… ‘like am I clashing?’”
Winslow, a fluent French speaker, developed a love for teaching after studying abroad in Paris where he interned at a private school and was given the post of an assistant English teacher.
“That was the best part [of Paris] by far. I loved my kids. I loved to go to work every day. It was probably the first time I had ever experienced that. The only other job I had held was as a construction worker, which wasn’t exactly chipper.”
He further developed his style after seeing the fashion of Paris and receiving style advice from some Parisians.
“They have a very serious fashion sense. They know what looks good; they don’t go into anything wild, but it’s always solid.”
More recently, Winslow has been working on expanding his style horizons and trying to take more risks in dressing.
“One thing I’ve tried to do recently, is not wear so many neutral colors–which I’m obsessed with… so easy–they make you feel comfortable.”
Thanks to Winslow for participating during a busy end of the semester.
